scribe: Pricing, Features & Best Use Cases

Open-source CLI that turns git history, coding-agent sessions and saved links into a markdown knowledge base agents read.

Who scribe fits

scribe suits developers using Claude Code or Codex who want agent-readable project memory stored as markdown in their own git repo. Based on the vendor's documentation, not on a hands-on test.

Best for: Developers using coding agents across many repos

Also a good fit for

  • Teams wanting a git-based shared knowledge base

Consider another tool if command-line tool, no hosted web app

Or if

  • Site lists macOS and Linux only
  • Default path uses the Anthropic provider and can incur LLM cost

What is scribe, and how does it work?

scribe is a single Go binary that reads git history, Claude Code and Codex sessions and links you send yourself, then writes a private markdown wiki on a schedule. The wiki is plain markdown in git with typed links between articles, so coding agents can read it before acting. It can run on Anthropic, hosted /v1 providers, or fully local Ollama.
