Main limitation: It is a Node 24+ command-line tool, and the replay stage spends money on your own model-provider account.

rightmodeler is an MIT-licensed command-line tool (npx rightmodeler init) for right-sizing the models used in AI agent pipelines. It autodetects traces from 12 sources, including Claude Code, Codex, LangSmith, Langfuse, Braintrust, OpenTelemetry GenAI and the Vercel AI SDK, replays each step through cheaper candidate models via any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, and judges outputs against what was already shipped, reporting agreement, cost delta, evidence count and abstentions. Approved swaps are shipped as a pull request with evidence attached and can be rolled back byte-exact. A self-hosted 'rightmodeler agent' rechecks provider catalogs weekly and opens PRs automatically; a hosted version and an analytics suite called Crucible are on waitlists. The tool is a report generator, not a runtime gateway.

Autodetects traces from Claude Code, Codex, LangSmith, Langfuse, Braintrust and others. No re-instrumentation.
Replays steps through any OpenAI-compatible endpoint such as OpenRouter or Vercel AI Gateway. Tests many candidates.
Judges outputs with a cross-family judge or external evaluators. Avoids self-grading bias.
Applies a quality floor and cost cap and abstains on thin evidence. Prevents risky swaps.

rightmodeler has no public API in its official documentation. CLI and coding-agent skill; no hosted API.
Summarized from the vendor's current policies; this is not legal advice and a vendor's badge is not an independent audit.
Runs locally on your traces; replay sends them to your chosen provider.
