How it works

• Pick by the system you want the agent to reach: GitHub for repos and PRs, Sentry for errors, Stripe for payments, Playwright for browser automation.
• Check how it connects: some servers run locally through npx or uvx, while others such as Context7, Sentry and Vercel use a hosted URL.
• Read the security notes before adding it: Azure's README warns that autonomous or misconfigured clients may perform destructive actions, and Neon says to review actions the LLM requests.
• Use least privilege: Redis shows a read-only ACL user, Stripe uses a Restricted API Key, and AWS API offers READ_OPERATIONS_ONLY=true.
• Prefer header-based keys over URL keys where offered; Exa and Tavily note that a key in the URL is visible in config.

What an MCP server config looks like

Local servers run as a command (npx, uvx, docker); remote servers use a URL and usually OAuth or a token. Copy the block for your host and replace the path or token.
