Zapier MCP connects an MCP client to your Zapier account so the AI can act in the apps you already use. Zapier handles OAuth, credentials and rate limiting. Most servers use dynamic tool discovery, so the AI finds and enables the tools it needs during the conversation.
What it does
Where Zapier MCP runs and what it adds, from its documentation
Runs actions in 9,000+ apps, such as sending messages, creating tasks and updating records
Discovers and enables tools dynamically during a conversation
Works across several apps in one request
Applies workspace access controls, user permissions and audit history
Can build and deploy Next Gen Zaps through MCP (early access)
When to use it
Good fit
Your AI is already discussing a task and should act on it in another app
One request must span several apps, e.g. find a CRM contact then email them
A coding assistant needs to create issues or post updates without leaving the editor
Not for
Free-of-charge heavy use: each successful tool call uses 2 tasks from your Zapier plan allowance

Permissions and security
What it can access
Acts in connected apps through your Zapier app connections; users can only use connections they own or that are shared across the account
Security notes from the maintainers
Zapier states it is SOC 2 Type II certified
Credentials are managed by Zapier; app and action-level access controls and history for every MCP action
Review the source before granting an agent access to credentials or production systems. We document what the maintainers state; we do not audit code.
