Neon MCP Server is an open-source bridge between natural language requests and the Neon API. It is offered as a hosted remote server at mcp.neon.tech with OAuth or API key auth. It can create projects and branches, run queries and perform migrations.
What it does
Where Neon MCP Server runs and what it adds, from its documentation
Create and manage Neon projects, branches and compute endpoints
Run SQL queries and inspect schemas
Safe migrations: prepare_database_migration tests on a temporary branch, complete_database_migration applies it
OAuth scopes read and write; organization API key limits access to that org
Security notes from the maintainers
Grants powerful database management; always review actions requested by the LLM
Telemetry: sends account ID, name, email and tool names to track.neon.tech and errors to Sentry; NEON_MCP_DISABLE_ANALYTICS=1 disables analytics only for self-run
Review the source before granting an agent access to credentials or production systems. We document what the maintainers state; we do not audit code.
Limitations
Intended for local development and IDE integration only
With OAuth, organization projects need org_id or project_id in the prompt
