AcruxCore: Pricing, Features & Best Use Cases

Open-source (Apache-2.0) LLMOps platform: prompt versioning, OpenAI-compatible gateway, tracing, tools and evaluation.

Who AcruxCore fits

Choose AcruxCore if your engineering team wants prompts, an OpenAI-compatible gateway, tracing and evaluation in one open-source platform that you can also self-host. Based on the vendor's documentation, not on a hands-on test.

Best for: Engineering teams building LLM features

Also a good fit for

  • Teams needing self-hosted LLM observability

Consider another tool if post-beta pricing not set

Or if

  • Requires own provider API keys
  • Account required for hosted version

What is AcruxCore, and how does it work?

AcruxCore is an open-source, self-hostable LLMOps platform for engineering teams. It lets teams version prompts, route LLM calls through an OpenAI-compatible gateway, trace requests, catalog tools and run evaluations. The hosted platform is free during beta; users bring their own provider keys and pay providers directly.

Best use cases for AcruxCore

Scenarios are worked out by our editors from the documentation; the actual result depends on your input and plan.

Versioning prompts without redeploying

Who
Engineers shipping LLM features
You provide
A templated prompt and variables
Expected result
A rendered prompt served by alias, switched between versions without an app deploy
Plan needed
Beta or self-hosted
Limitation
SDK callers see a change only after their cache window source (opens in a new tab)

Routing LLM calls across providers

Who
Teams using several model vendors
You provide
OpenAI-format chat requests plus connected provider keys
Expected result
One endpoint with fallbacks, cost per call and optional caching
Plan needed
Beta or self-hosted
Limitation
Needs your own OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini or compatible keys source (opens in a new tab)

Tracing LLM requests and costs

Who
Developers debugging bad answers
You provide
Gateway calls or OpenTelemetry spans
Expected result
Spans with model, tokens, latency and cost, linked to the prompt version
Plan needed
Beta or self-hosted
Limitation
Full payloads stored only if payload capture is enabled source (opens in a new tab)

Scoring prompt versions before shipping

Who
Teams running regression checks on prompts
You provide
A dataset and candidate prompt versions or models
Expected result
Scores per version and optimizer-drafted rewrites ranked
Plan needed
Beta or self-hosted
Limitation
Quality depends on the dataset you supply source (opens in a new tab)

Key features and their practical limits

Prompt versioning with aliases

Stores templated message sets as versions and lets an alias such as production point at one version. Moves a fix live without redeploying the app.

Access: All plansLimit: Cache window delays pickup in SDK clients source (opens in a new tab)

OpenAI-compatible gateway

Accepts OpenAI-style requests and forwards them to connected OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini or compatible providers. Existing OpenAI clients work after changing the base URL.

Access: All plansLimit: Uses your provider keys source (opens in a new tab)

Virtual keys, budgets and rate limits

Issues virtual keys with spend budgets, per-key rate limits and optional caching. Caps runaway spend and failures.

Access: All plansLimit: Details of limits not on the pricing page source (opens in a new tab)

Tracing

Records a span per call with model, tokens, latency and cost, or ingests OpenTelemetry spans. Traces a bad answer to the prompt version behind it.

Access: All plansLimit: Retention follows team settings source (opens in a new tab)

Evaluation and optimizer

Scores prompt versions and models on a dataset and drafts and ranks rewrites. Proves a change before promotion.

Access: All plansLimit: Needs a dataset of cases source (opens in a new tab)

How to use AcruxCore for versioning and tracing LLM prompts

AcruxCore documentation — screenshot of the coding AI tool, Oct 1, 2026
AcruxCore documentation: where the steps below come from. docs.acruxcore.com, captured Oct 1, 2026

Set up AcruxCore

  1. Create a hosted account or clone the repo and run docker compose up
  2. Install @acruxcoreai/sdk (Node 18+) or pip install acruxcore (Python 3.9+)
  3. Connect a provider key such as OpenAI or Anthropic in the dashboard
  4. Create an API key for your app

Example: versioning and tracing LLM prompts

  1. Create a prompt named support-agent and save version 1
  2. Call hub.prompts.render('support-agent','production',vars) in your app
  3. Send a chat request through hub.gateway.chat
  4. Open the resulting trace and edit the prompt into version 2
  5. Move the production alias to version 2

Review and export the result

  1. Confirm the trace shows model, tokens, latency and cost
  2. Check the audit trail records who moved the alias

Privacy, data use and commercial rights

Summarized from the vendor's current policies; this is not legal advice and a vendor's badge is not an independent audit.

How your inputs and outputs are handled

Prompts, tool definitions, keys and gateway traces are handled; provider credentials encrypted at rest.

Vendor states it does not use prompts or completions to train models.

Trace data kept per team settings and standard windows; deleting account removes data subject to backups.

Commercial use and plan restrictions

Not stated separately.

Enterprise offers custom retention; self-hosted keeps data in your estate.
