Project Genie is a hard one to get into. Access requires a Google AI Ultra subscription, whose price was not on the pages we fetched, there is no free access, it is 18+ only, and initial availability is stated for the U.S. only. It is also described as an early research prototype, so expect rough edges. For someone who just wants to generate imagery or video today, those gates are the reason to look around. Prices checked on 2026-10-02.
Google Gemini is the same family of assistant, minus the explorable worlds: it is free, and the Google AI Plus tier starts at $4.99 per month with 2x the usage limits of Free and 400 GB of cloud storage. Runway is the closer creative alternative, generating and editing video, images and audio. It has a free tier, and Standard is $15 per month with 625 credits monthly and no rollover, plus an API for developers.
"Better suited" below is based on documented features and pricing from our verified profiles, not on a head-to-head test. Prices are USD as published by each vendor.
