OpenAI Codex plans and what they include

Codex usage is included in ChatGPT plans (Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise/Edu), and usage limits apply on every plan. You can also use Codex with an API key and pay API rates per token. Free access exists: a Free ChatGPT plan includes Codex, though Free and Go list the desktop app only. The Codex CLI itself is open source.

The lowest paid tier is Go at $8 per month, which lists the desktop app only. Plus at $20 per month adds Codex on the CLI, IDE, web and iOS. Pro starts from $100 per month, with tiers listed at $100, $200 or $500; we could not confirm which tier maps to which usage, so we do not state one price. • Enterprise/Edu pricing is contact sales and is not published.
