BitDive: Pricing, Features & Best Use Cases

Runtime verification for Java and Kotlin: PR review, AI context via MCP, tests from traces.

Who BitDive fits

BitDive suits Java and Kotlin developers who want runtime traces for behavior-based PR review, MCP context for AI coding agents and JUnit tests generated from real executions, free for individual use. Based on the vendor's documentation, not on a hands-on test.

Best for: Java teams

Also a good fit for

  • Spring Boot developers

Consider another tool if java/Kotlin only

Or if

  • Individual use as-is, no SLA
  • Company rollout requires contacting sales

What is BitDive, and how does it work?

BitDive records real runtime behavior of Java and Kotlin apps, including method calls, SQL queries and downstream requests, via one JVM agent. It uses the data for behavior-based PR review, MCP context for AI agents, and JUnit regression tests generated from traces.

JVM agent

Attaches to your Java or Kotlin service to record method calls, SQL and downstream requests with no code changes. Captures real behavior.

Runtime PR review

Compares behavior before and after a change to review pull requests. Finds regressions code review misses.

Access: FreeLimit: Requires recorded traces source (opens in a new tab)

MCP access

Gives Cursor, Claude or Devin the exact runtime context via MCP. Reduces wrong assumptions by AI agents.

Access: FreeLimit: Depends on the agent's MCP support source (opens in a new tab)

Unit tests from traces

Turns recorded executions into standard JUnit tests run with mvn test. Preserves verified behavior in CI.

How to use BitDive for verifying Java pull requests with runtime traces

Set up BitDive

  1. Open bitdive.io and sign up through the self-serve flow.
  2. Attach the BitDive JVM agent to your service.
  3. Run the service so traces are recorded.

Example: verifying Java pull requests with runtime traces

  1. Record a trace of a real request.
  2. Make a code change and record again.
  3. Compare before and after behavior in the PR review.
  4. Generate a JUnit replay test from the trace.

Review and export the result

  1. Run mvn test to confirm replay tests pass.
  2. Confirm traces show the expected SQL and downstream calls.
