Is Claude Code better than Replit? The short answer
Pick Claude Code if you are a developer with a codebase and want an agent that edits files and runs commands in your terminal, IDE, desktop app or browser, and you have or will buy a Claude Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise plan. Pick Replit if you want to describe an app in plain language and have it built, hosted and published for you, with auth and a database included, and you are not a professional developer or want a fast prototype. The two start at the same $20/mo, but they sell different things: Claude Code is an agent working on your code, Replit is a platform that also hosts what it builds. We have not run either on a benchmark task, so we make no claim about output quality.
Based on our profiles of both tools: Claude Code verified on September 29 and Replit verified on October 1. We have not run either tool on a benchmark task yet.

Frequently asked questions
Which is cheaper, Claude Code or Replit?
At the entry level they cost the same: Claude Pro is $20/mo billed monthly ($17/mo billed annually, $200 up front) and Replit Core is $20/mo billed monthly ($18/mo billed annually). Replit's Pro plan is $100/mo ($90/mo annually), matching Claude Max 5x at $100/mo. What you get for the money differs, since Claude Code usage is capped by plan limits and Replit's strongest models draw on a monthly credit.
Does Claude Code or Replit have a free plan?
Replit does: Free Mode includes up to 30 hours of chat and up to 60 projects, and the first prompt is free. Claude Code has no free tier and is not included in the Free Claude plan; you need Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise, or an Anthropic Console account billed per token.
Is Replit an alternative to Claude Code?
Only partly. Replit is an app builder: its agent writes the code, then hosts and publishes the result with auth and a database. Claude Code works on your own project folder from the terminal, IDE, desktop or web. If you want a published app without setting up infrastructure, look at Replit; if you want an agent inside an existing codebase, look at Claude Code.
Which one is better for beginners?
Replit is aimed at non-developers and students, and our profile lists them as its best-for audience. Claude Code is listed for developers working in the terminal. We have not tested how either handles a first-time user, so this follows each vendor's own positioning.
Can Claude Code or Replit run several agents at once?
Replit lists 10 parallel agents, but only on its $100/mo Pro plan; Core users cannot run them. Our Claude Code profile does not describe parallel agents, so we do not claim either way.
Do Claude Code and Replit train on my data?
For Claude Code, the pricing page lists model training as opt-out on Free, Pro and Max, and none by default on Team and Enterprise. For Replit, we could not confirm it: the privacy policy excerpt we checked does not say whether user content is used for training, and the retention period is not specified.
