A strong choice for cited web research and quick fact-finding on the free tier; upgrade to Pro/Max when you need advanced model choice, heavy Pro Search or Deep Research volume, and file work.
Perplexity sells per-user subscriptions and per-seat business plans. Standard is free. Pro and Max are consumer subscriptions, and Enterprise Pro and Enterprise Max are priced per seat. The API is a separate pay-as-you-go product and is not included in any subscription. We could not confirm the US monthly price of Pro: the official pricing page was blocked for our checks, so see perplexity.ai/pricing for that number.
Standard costs $0 and gives practically unlimited basic searches, with very limited Pro Searches and limited Research. The cheapest documented paid price is Education Pro at $10/month for verified students and faculty. It includes everything in Pro plus Study Mode. Max is $200/month or $2,000/year and adds 10,000 Computer credits per month and the highest access to frontier models.
