The main reason to leave Timbre is that you cannot try it first: there is no free plan or trial. Work also stops when credits hit zero, Pro is capped at 200 credits per month at $20, and an account is required.
Descript is the closest in spirit: a text-based video and podcast editor with Studio Sound, filler-word removal and voice cloning. It has a free tier, and Hobbyist is $16 per month per editor billed annually, with 600 minutes of media and 400 AI credits. Runway focuses on generating and editing video, images and audio; it has a free tier, and Standard is $15 per user per month with 625 credits and no rollover.
Synthesia is different: it creates presenter videos with AI avatars and voiceovers in 160+ languages. It has a free tier and Starter is $29 per month, with 1,200 credits and 10 minutes of video.
